Smart & Biggar leads the industry for Trademarks with four principals ranked as WTR Global Leaders 2022
Smart & Biggar is proud to announce that four of our esteemed principals have been named among the world’s most notable trademark practitioners in the fourth edition of the World Trademark Review (WTR) Global Leaders Guide. Congratulations to Christian Bolduc, Mark Evans, François Guay and Philip Lapin for this outstanding recognition.
Earlier this year, each of these principals was named in WTR 1000 The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals, which recognizes the top Trademark practitioners in private practice. Once again Smart & Biggar was ranked as a gold-tier firm for Trademarks, and as a silver-tier firm for Anti-Counterfeiting. WTR researchers described the firm as one of “Canada’s most prestigious and well-known boutiques” and “a prominent player with a well-deserved, long track record on the market and has the depth in its ranks to handle complicated cases.”
WTR Global Leaders are recognized as the “best of the best” lawyers for Trademarks. Christian, Mark, François and Philip were highlighted in the guide for their outstanding service to clients and acclaim from colleagues for each of their strengths and accomplishments:
Christian Bolduc (prosecution and strategy, transactions) – With over 25 years of experience across all stages of the trademark life cycle, Christian possesses deep strategic wisdom. He has an “excellent reputation for his strong practice in trademark prosecution, enforcement and IP transactions.”
Mark Evans (enforcement and litigation, prosecution and strategy and anti-counterfeiting) – Mark is hailed as “one of the leading lights of the profession” with a practice in prosecution and litigation. He has a reputation for “handling it all with great practicality and with a view to taking care of his clients’ every need.”
François Guay (enforcement and litigation) – “François Guay is exceptional at what he does and delivers outstanding work in both enforcement and prosecution”. With over three decades of experience, clients commented that François can “predict the outcome of disputes with incredible accuracy.”
Philip Lapin (prosecution and strategy) - Philip Lapin, who “gives the most constructive, beneficial and straight-forward advice,” is hailed by peers as a “true leader in the field and one to make you up your game when you face him as opposing counsel.”
WTR Global Leaders draws on market-leading research projects, the WTR 1000 and WTR 300, to identify the ‘best of the best’ in private and corporate trademark practice. The full list of global leaders is now available to view.
