Intellectual Property guidance grounded in deep thinking and creative solutions

Tamara has over a decade of experience helping brand owners and creators protect, monetize and grow their brands both in Canada and internationally. She provides strategic advice throughout the trademark life cycle – from clearance through filing strategies and prosecution, to licensing and enforcement.

Your partner in brand protection and enforcement

With a practice spanning both trademark and copyright, Tamara works closely with established and emerging brand owners and creators in Canada and abroad across numerous industries, including fashion, entertainment, toys and games, health and beauty, and food, to help craft multi-faceted IP strategies to meet their present needs and facilitate future growth. She regularly assists with enforcement and anti-counterfeiting matters, helping clients secure and record rights with government agencies, identify and stop suspect counterfeit imports, and act against infringers.

Tamara regularly represents clients in contentious and administrative proceedings before the Trademarks Opposition Board and has experience litigating trademark matters in Federal and provincial courts, including appeals. Her clients range from individuals and small start-ups to mid-range growing companies in Canada to sophisticated Canada-based clients managing large, global portfolios. She works closely with associates around the world to assist their clients in Canada, as well as with well-known international businesses operating in Canada.

Well-respected by her peers, Tamara has been named in Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch since 2022 and as a Rising Star for IP and IT by the Ontario Bar Association in 2024. IPIC recognized her volunteer work with a Roger T. Hughes Future Leader Award in 2022. She is actively involved in both the Intellectual Property Association of Canada (IPIC) and the International Trademark Association (INTA), including as a member of the Anticounterfeiting Committee (IPIC and INTA), Copyright Committee (IPIC), Trademark Education Committee (IPIC), unReal Campaign Committee (INTA)  and has chaired the IPIC Anticounterfeiting Committee and the Canada-subcommittee of the INTA Anticounterfeiting Committee.
