Brigitte Chan

Brigitte provides legal and strategic advice to domestic and international clients on trademark prosecution, opposition, licensing and enforcement as well as on industrial design, copyright, associated regulatory matters. She is a member of the Québec and Ontario Bar, appearing before the Federal Court and Trademark Opposition Board. 

Strategic trademark counsel for multinational and luxury brands

Her clientele spans over multi-national retailers, the fragrance and cosmetic industries, clothing and footwear brands, including luxury brands, automotive, pharmaceutical, AI and telecommunication companies. She offers her clients a pragmatic approach to risk assessment from a legal and practical perspective.   

Brigitte supports the profession having served on the Board of Directors of the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents (CPATA) and acted as Course Director of the McGill / IPIC Trademark Course. She is a frequent author on brand protection, enforcement and Québec French language issues and is consistently recognized as a leading practitioner in top domestic and international rankings, including the World Trademark Review 1000 and Best Lawyers. 

She has been awarded the Order of Merit from the University of Ottawa’s Civil Law Section for her professional achievements and contributes to the academic community as a member of the Advisory Board to the Dean of the Civil Law Section at uOttawa.
