Smart & Biggar earns 'Canadian Patent Firm of the Year' at Global IP Awards

Smart & Biggar is proud to receive the 'Canadian Patent Firm of the Year' Award at the Global IP Awards, presented by IAM and WTR . The awards ceremony was held on January 29, 2020, at 8 Northumberland Avenue in London, U. K. Partners Christine Genge and Brigide Mattar were present to receive the award.

This global recognition as 'Canadian Patent Firm of the Year' highlights our depth of patent and IP expertise and the firm’s commitment to protecting the rights of innovators in Canada.

Additionally, five Smart & Biggar practitioners were recently named in IAM’s inaugural publication of IAM Global Leaders earlier in January 2020. In the main IAM 1000 guide the firm is touted for “impressive statistics” as Canada’s number one patent filer with ten partners featured overall as “recommended” and “highly recommended” for patent prosecution, litigation and transactions.

Smart & Biggar has also earned numerous accolades from WTR for Canadian trademarks with four partners recently named as WTR Global Leaders, in addition to the firm’s gold-band ranking for Canadian trademarks and six listees in the WTR 1000, the firm is also recommended for transactions. In the IAM Strategy 300 the firm also holds a rare listing for private practice counsel.

The Global IP Awards recognize law and attorney firm excellence in IP litigation, prosecution and transactional work during 2019. In total, 113 awards were awarded to firms from across the globe.
