Gunars A. Gaikis, J. Christopher Robinson and Steven B. Garland named "Lawyers of the Year" by Best Lawyers

Gunars A. Gaikis, a partner in our Toronto office, has been named the 2013 Toronto Biotechnology Law Lawyer of the Year. Mr. Gaikis has specialized in pharmaceutical and biological patent litigation and strategic counselling for over 20 years. He has extensive experience in the procurement, litigation and resolution of pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent disputes and has appeared as lead counsel in numerous precedent setting intellectual property cases before the Ontario, Federal and Supreme courts.
J. Christopher Robinson, a partner in our Vancouver office, has been named the 2013 Vancouver Intellectual Property Law Lawyer of the Year. Mr. Robinson has specialized in patent procurement in life sciences and related industries for over 20 years. He has extensive expertise with every facet of the patent procurement process and also provides strategic advice on portfolio management and licensing.
Steven B. Garland, a partner in our Ottawa office, has been named the 2013 Ottawa Intellectual Property Law Lawyer of the Year. Mr. Garland has 20 years of experience in intellectual property litigation of all types, including issues relating to patent, trademark, copyright, industrial designs, trade secrets and competition law. He has acted successfully in litigation matters that have involved a wide variety of subjects, including chemical, biochemical, biotechnological, telephony, mechanical and industrial matters. He also recently successfully represented Amazon.com in Amazon.com Inc v Commissioner of Patents in what has become a leading case regarding patentable subject matter.
