Daphne Lainson named a WIPR Influential Woman in IP

Smart & Biggar is pleased to announce that Ottawa partner, Daphne Lainson, is profiled in the inaugural edition of WIPR Influential Women in IP, recognizing 80 international female leaders in IP.

Daphne Lainson is a leader of the firm’s Life Sciences Practice. She specializes in securing patent protection for chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology related inventions with leading expertise in life cycle management. Daphne is regularly called upon to provide advice on pharmaceutical regulatory law to top global innovators and development stage pharmaceutical companies. This includes providing strategic advice during patent prosecution and following patent grant for both pharmaceuticals and biologics. She is sought out to advise innovative pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies in matters relating to data protection, supplementary protection, patent linkage issues and market access issues.

Daphne is also actively involved as a leader in the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), as an AIPLA Fellow, and as the Chair of the Food and Drug Law Committee.

WIPR Influential Women in IP is a new initiative from World IP Review. The initiative will place a positive spotlight on the development and progress that women have made in creating, protecting and securing IP, as well as supporting and enabling women to move forward in their respective industries. In addition to the print publication, WIPR Influential Women in IP will host events, networking opportunities, online interviews, webinars and more throughout the course of the year.
