Smart & Biggar hailed as a ‘Top Intellectual Property Boutique’ in the Global Best in Law 2022 guide
Smart & Biggar is proud to announce that the firm has been recognized as a ‘Top Intellectual Property Boutique’ in this year’s edition of the Global Best in Law 2022 guide by Canadian Lawyer Magazine.
Global Best in Law 2022 is a special annual report that identifies the best of the best award-winning law firms from around the world definitively. Through peer feedback, surveys, data analysis and more, Canadian Lawyer asked lawyers, in-house counsel and clients from across Canada to vote on what they considered to be the top intellectual property law boutiques in the country. This guide has compiled a list of those firms, professionals and companies that are most deserving of special recognition within their field.
In the guide, Smart & Biggar is regarded as “Canada’s largest intellectual property firm – and among its oldest,” and we handle “more patent and trademark applications combined that are filed with the Canadian intellectual [property] office each year than any other firm,” highlighting our impressive and dedicated IP services.
Managing Director of the firm, Matthew Zischka was featured in the guide, commenting on the firm’s level of expertise. “A lot of clients come to us with very large IP portfolios, and one of the reasons they come to us is because they have confidence that we’re big enough and sophisticated enough to handle these large portfolios…” and “we know how to deal with any changes to patent and trademark laws that come along” he said.
This annual guide was curated and published by Canadian Lawyer, Australasian Lawyer, Lexpert, Canadian Law List, Law Times and NZ Lawyer. The full round-up of this year’s Best in Law 2022 is available to view online.
