With a practice focused on patent drafting and prosecution, Monique draws from her technical expertise. She understands each client’s needs and shares a keen interest in innovative technologies within this expanding legal landscape. As an IP practitioner with a vast knowledge of the telecommunications and software industries, Monique advises a variety of clients in a multitude of evolving fields including telecommunications, computer technologies and artificial intelligence.

Monique expertly navigates the global patent procurement process and tailors her practice based on business goals and the challenges her clients may face. Monique serves as a technical anchor in the team for a diverse range of innovations in the high-tech and telecom space. The opportunity to combine her passion for writing and the development of new technologies sparked an interest in patent drafting. Through the variety of technologies Monique sees every day, she easily adapts to meet the needs of her clients in support of developing an idea from conception to implementation.

Before joining Smart & Biggar, Monique worked as a Patent Attorney at an established leading IP firm in London, England, as a qualified UK and EU Patent Attorney. She earned her Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Manchester in 2017.

Monique was the recipient of the Gill Prize for the highest aggregate score in the UK final examinations (April 2021) and the Michael Jones Prize for the highest score in the UK Amendment examination (April 2021).
