Katie is a summer student in our Toronto office, returning for a second summer at the firm. She is currently completing her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Katie comes to Smart & Biggar with a B.Sc. and a M.S. in Biochemistry from McMaster University, where she was awarded the CIHR Canadian Graduate Scholarship for her master’s research and successfully defended her master’s thesis investigating the regulations and dynamics of type IV pili in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. During her undergraduate studies, Katie was named on the Dean’s Honour List from 2015-2019 and graduated with distinction, Summa Cum Laude.

Katie was a team member and MVP for the McMaster varsity women’s football team. She was also a member of the McMaster Model United Nations. In her spare time, Katie enjoys long-distance running and is a certified open water scuba diver.
