Camille Desmarais is an articling student in Smart & Biggar’s Montreal office. She earned her LL.B. from the University of Montreal in 2019 and passed the Quebec Bar exam in 2020.
While in law school, Camille held a position as a research assistant for professor Ysolde Gendreau where she conducted intellectual property research. Additionally, Camille has participated to the Summer School in Law and Technology at the Institute for Technology and Society in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, examining various emerging issues concerning new technologies in the artificial intelligence, privacy and legal fields.
From 2017 to 2019 she held executive leadership positions at the Amnesty International Committee of the University of Montreal Law Faculty and the Art Committee of the Law Faculty.
Currently, Camille is volunteering for the Montreal Artists Legal Clinic providing legal information to the Montreal artistic community.
