Technical expertise applied to creating patent solutions
With a practice focused on patent preparation and procurement, Allison calls on her technical expertise in electrical engineering to draft and prosecute patent applications. In her role she conducts patent searches and advises clients on issues relating to patentability, patent validity and infringement.
Prior to coming to Smart & Biggar, Allison earned a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering-Biomedical Systems, and focused her thesis on the development of full a medical device for monitoring physical rehabilitation following musculoskeletal injury. Her work towards the development of full device platforms provided her with first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by inventors, and has equipped her to help guide clients through the process of protecting their valuable innovations.
Allison’s technical engineering education includes aspects of electrical, computer, software, mechanical and biomedical engineering. Allison’s work in patents allows her to leverage her analytical nature and technical knowledge base, while keeping up to date with cutting edge industry trends.
