Smart & Biggar discusses IP enforcement in oil and agriculture for ACC Alberta

On May 16th Smart & Biggar partners with the Association for Corporate Counsel (ACC) Alberta to host a lunch session focussed on IP enforcement in the oil and agriculture industries.

Smart & Biggar managing partner, Steven Garland, will provide a primer on patent enforcement from litigation process, strategic and tactical considerations, to the impact on the company and employees. The session will also review valuable commercial remedies available to patent owners and related concerns for potential defendant, the problems and pitfalls of patent litigation that can arise, and recent cases in the oil and gas sector.

Steve will be joined by Edda Koopmann, in-house and leading expert in agricultural sciences, who will offer insight on how Ag companies in Canada and around the world can manage Intellectual Property issues, including enforcement and litigation strategies, leveraging specialized IP advices and services from outside counsel.

The session will take place at the Petroleum Club on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
