Smart & Biggar celebrates women in IP and STEM at Ottawa WING event
On April 24th members of the Women’s Intellectual Property Group (WING) of the IP Institute of Canada (IPIC) connected across Canada for “Trailblazers: An Evening to Celebrate Women in IP and STEM”.
Partner Christine Genge, senior associate Jamie-Lynn Kraft and associate Nora Labbancz from Smart & Biggar's Ottawa office hosted a local event, welcoming 25 women across IP career levels and STEM sectors, to the Courtyard Restaurant for cocktails, canapes and conversation.
In addition to sharing the great work being done by the women in attendance, the inaugural event also featured the stories of three female trailblazers in STEM:
- Joan Clark, Q.C., O.C. founder of IP group at Ogilvy Renault,
- Ulrike Bahr, President and CEO, Digital Nova Scotia, and
- Doina Oncel, founder of hErVOLUTION.
Other WING events were held in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.
