Nastasia Kujbid is an articling student at Smart & Biggar’s Toronto office. She earned her J.D. at Queen’s University.
Nastasia is a dedicated researcher with a passion for understanding the intersection of health, technology, and law. Nastasia graduated with High Distinction with an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, where she maintained Dean’s List each year of her undergraduate studies. With a master's degree in physiology, her thesis investigated sleep patterns and mood in patients with clinical depression.
During law school, Nastasia completed coursework on European Union (EU) Corporate Social Responsibility, French Law, Contract Law and Comparative Dispute Resolution, developing an advanced understanding of international and European legal frameworks. She served as a tutor to the first-year law students. Nastasia continued her commitment to leadership and advocacy and received the Vic Freidin, Law '71 Memorial Award Upon graduation, she was awarded the Queen’s Law Community Commitment Award for demonstrating an interest and commitment to community service.
Prior to law school, Nastasia worked full-time as a Research Associate at the Toronto Western Hospital where she led, designed and coordinated research projects on general surgery, emergency surgery and artificial intelligence in surgical training.
Nastasia is excited to return to Smart & Biggar as an articling student. She looks forward to continuing to gain experience across multiple areas of intellectual property law and to continue learning in an environment that values student involvement and mentorship.
