Nastasia Kujbid is a summer student in Smart & Biggar’s Toronto office. She is currently completing her J.D. at Queen’s University.

Nastasia is a dedicated researcher with a passion for understanding the intersection of health, technology and law. She was on the Dean's List for all four years of her undergraduate studies, graduating with High Distinction. With a master's degree in physiology, her thesis investigated sleep patterns and mood in patients with depression.

During law school, Nastasia continued her commitment to leadership and advocacy. She served as president of both the Queen’s Law Intellectual Property Law Club and the Queen’s Fertility and Reproductive Law Club. As a caseworker at the Queen’s Prison Law Clinic, she assisted federally incarcerated individuals with disciplinary court matters, institutional matters and parole board hearing preparation. She also volunteered at the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic and competed in the 1L Criminal Law Moot, where she earned recognition as one of the finalists.

Prior to law school, Nastasia worked full-time as a Research Associate at the Toronto Western Hospital where she led, designed and coordinated research projects on general surgery, emergency surgery and artificial intelligence in surgical training.

Nastasia is excited to rejoin Smart & Biggar as a summer student because of the unparalleled opportunity to be exposed to multiple areas of Intellectual Property law.
