Won Ha is an articling student at Smart & Biggar’s Toronto office. She earned her Juris Doctor from Western University and her MSc in Physiology at the University of Toronto.
With a deep foundation in life sciences, Won conducted research investigating ATM proteins and female infertility, earning multiple merit-based scholarships during her graduate studies. Her passion for IP was sparked in the lab after observing the end-to-end patenting and commercialization of breakthrough scientific discoveries.
Won bridges high-level technical expertise with persuasive legal advocacy. During law school, she was recognized as Top Oralist at the Norton Rose Fulbright Venture Capital Case Competition, won first place in the BLG Client Consultation Competition (advancing to the national stage), and competed in the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot.
Won has experience as an implementation consultant at a SaaS company and previously worked at a start-up as a legal and compliance analyst, assisting patentability evaluation and working with foreign patent agents.
She is thrilled to return to Smart & Biggar and looks forward to supporting clients across the firm’s IP practice.
