Lauren Marval is a summer student in Smart & Biggar’s Ottawa office. She is currently completing her JD at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law.
Lauren returns to Smart & Biggar for her second summer with five years of intellectual property law experience, including over three years at a global multi-category children’s entertainment company in-house and over a year at a boutique IP technology law firm. She enjoyed both experiences because they allowed her to apply her science background to the technical field of IP law.
During her second year at Dalhousie’s Law School, Lauren received an honours distinction in her moot. While at Saint Mary’s, Lauren was recognized with two awards showcasing her extracurricular and academic prowess. She was the recipient of the Kendon Matheson Award for Community Involvement and Extracurricular Contributions to the University and was also named Junior of the Year – Most Outstanding Student in 3rd Year Study.
Lauren looks forward to working at Smart & Biggar. She is hoping to learn how to leverage her IP experience strategically to drive growth in advisory, licensing and transactional work.
