Delays at the Canadian Trademarks Office far exceed those of other industrialized countries at the moment. Such delays can negatively impact the rights of applicants. We will explore options available to reduce examination time in Canada, including the possibility of undertaking an assessment before or after filing and the possibility of writing to CIPO to ask for descriptions to be added to the pre-approved list.
