Smart & Biggar continues to grow in Montreal with the addition of 4 new associates
Smart & Biggar is pleased to welcome Elodie Dion, Ali Faridukbou, Christopher A. Guaiani and Lorena Olmos, four new hires who will add to the strength of our litigation and patents teams in Montreal.
Elodie Dion, one of two new members of our litigation team, encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and industrial designs into her practice. She earned her Master’s in Intellectual Property Law in France, where she interned for a prestigious intellectual property firm and studied the role of trademark protection in the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining Smart & Biggar, she worked at a well-established intellectual property firm in Montreal where she focused her practice on trademark matters and litigation.
Ali Faridkhou, a new member of the firm’s patent team, combines his multidisciplinary engineering background and experience in management consulting to help companies achieve their business goals in diverse sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, oil and gas, food, polymers, medical devices, automotive and aerospace. Before joining Smart & Biggar, Ali worked as a technical consultant helping small and medium-sized enterprises recoup maximum portions of their R&D expenditures through the CRA’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program.
Christopher Guaiani, also joining our litigation team, assists small to large sized corporations, operating locally and internationally, in a variety of contentious patent, trademark and copyright cases. His prior experience in civil and commercial litigation leads him to approach intellectual property law from a business perspective that is focused on obtaining results and ensuring clients’ legal and commercial objectives are addressed. Christopher obtained his Bachelor of Science from Concordia University where he graduated with distinction. In 2013, he received the Science College Academic Achievement Award from the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Lorena Olmos joins Smart & Biggar’s patent team as a technical consultant. With nine years of experience in high-tech product development and an educational background in law, she is well-positioned to provide patent drafting and prosecution services in a wide array of industries. Lorena’s deep technical knowledge has applications in artificial intelligence, manufacturing, industrial goods, machinery, electronics, software and consumer products.
