Canada’s Intellectual Property Firm

Smart & Biggar hosts workshop for Vancouver tech companies on the importance of IP

Smart & Biggar will host a workshop in Vancouver with the BC Tech Association on Thursday March 7th to help technology companies understand how to use Intellectual Property (IP) to create value and safeguard their business.

Partner, Jonas Gifford; US patent agent, Matthew Leaper; and counsel, Kwan Loh will outline how companies can create value and protect their market share through IP rights — copyrights, designs, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets — in Canada and around the world.

The workshop will be broken down into four useful parts, focusing on assisting small to medium size technology companies in navigating the various processes for obtaining IP rights and will provide strategic insights for founders and investors on how to use IP rights.

The workshop is part of the BC Tech Association Education Series and is offered for free by Smart & Biggar; advance registration is required.

BC Tech works to ensure the growth of future anchor companies needed to strengthen and sustain the provincial tech sector. Since 2014, more than 70 companies, government agencies, and enterprise organizations have called the BC Tech Hub home.
