Smart & Biggar selected by Canadian Lawyer as a top 10 IP Boutique
Smart & Biggar is pleased to share that Canadian Lawyer has included Smart & Biggar on their list of top 10 Intellectual Property Boutiques in Canada.
In their editorial review, Canadian Lawyer noted that in 2020 brand owners will need to work more closely with outside counsel at intellectual property firms for help to guard against “brand trolls” and to proactively manage the impact of recent government reforms to the Trademarks Act.
As Canada’s largest IP boutique, and the only one with a national presence through offices across the country, Smart & Biggar is uniquely positioned in the Canadian marketplace. The firm is consistently recognized both in Canada and globally as a leading IP firm with a long history spanning more than 100 years, and the distinct record of having filed more patent and trademark applications than any other firm in Canada. The firm is proud of Canadian Lawyer’s recent recognition, which reflects the views of clients and peers alike that Smart & Biggar is one of the most notable Canadian IP boutiques.
To determine the top IP boutiques in the country, Canadian Lawyer asked lawyers, in-house counsel and clients from across Canada to vote on the top intellectual property boutiques. To be considered in the vote, firms were required to have at least 80 per cent of their business come from intellectual property.
