Mark Pidkowich and Matthew Leaper join IP and cannabis panel at ‘Grow Your Assets’ conference
Vancouver Partner, Mark Pidkowich and Patent Agent, Matthew Leaper will share their knowledge at “Grow Your Assets - Intellectual Property for the Cannabis Industry,” a conference focused on managing intellectual property in Canada’s new cannabis landscape. The conference takes place on February 21st at Greenacres Golf Course in Richmond, BC.
Mark and Matthew will join fellow IP and cannabis experts in a Q&A panel to discuss best practices in the Canadian cannabis space. Mark will speak on obtaining patent protection in the U.S., Canada and around the world for plants, particular strains, plant by-products and the breeders' rights associated therewith, featuring numerous examples of recently issued patents and patent claims. Matthew will provide guidance on protecting software and software-implemented innovations for cannabis in the U.S., Canada and around the world; and share strategic insights for utilizing those rights to create business value for founders, investors and potential acquirers.
With the recent legalization of cannabis in Canada, the protection of intellectual property in the industry is crucial. Along with earning CLE credit, conference attendees will learn effective strategies to leverage innovation by understanding trademarks, patents, domain names, plant breeder’s rights, copyright and trade secrets as applied to the cannabis environment in North America and globally.
Conference registration is available here.
