Hyun’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a broad range of technical fields including communications, computer-automated systems, electronics, computer hardware and software, mechanical devices, networking, cloud computing, internet, and cleantech. He draws from his technical expertise and understands his client’s needs and business objectives when developing his IP strategy. He conducts patent counselling, opinions and advice in a multitude of legal matters in IP law.

Hyun utilizes his experience in computer software in his patent practice. He expertly navigates patent prosecution by drawing on his extensive industry experience as a software engineer in order to deliver results and advise his clients. 

Before pursuing his career in intellectual property law, Hyun gained invaluable experience working as a software engineer at a multinational software technology corporation for several years. His primary work included developing web servers and mobile applications. Hyun was one of two software engineers at an international software company who developed a mobile application which won the Silver Prize at the Samsung Application App Challenge (2009).

Hyun received his B.A.Sc. (Computer Engineering) from the University of British Columbia and his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School. Hyun speaks and writes Korean fluently.
