Brayden Secord is a summer student in Smart & Biggar’s Toronto office. He is currently completing his J.D. at Western University.
Brayden was named to the Dean’s Honour List during his first year of legal studies. He also received the Dean of Law Entrance Scholarship for academic excellence in his pre-law studies.
Brayden is a Case Manager at the Western IP & Innovation Legal Clinic and the Vice President of Technology at Western’s Student Legal Society. He also competed in the Harold G. Fox IP Moot in 2024.
Prior to pursuing his legal studies, Brayden earned a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, where he graduated with First Class Honours. He was also the recipient of the Principal’s Entrance Scholarship.
Brayden gained valuable experience working as an electrical engineering designer at an independent consulting firm of engineers and technical specialists in Toronto where he designed electrical layouts for data centres, smart buildings, and commercial real estate. He also worked as an engineering intern at a large-scale natural gas, oil and power-generation company headquartered in Calgary. There, he supported the electrical and controls engineering for several 30MW compressor station projects throughout Western Canada.
