Smart & Biggar dominates Managing Intellectual Property Awards, and wins "Canadian IP Boutique of the Year"

Smart & Biggar is proud to have been honoured with a record-setting five (5) prestigious awards by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP). The firm has long been recognized by MIP as a leader in IP, and this year was the only Canadian firm to be nominated across all categories. 

The firm was chosen as Canadian IP Boutique Firm of the Year and as the Canadian Patent Contentious Firm of the Year, and partner Gunars Gaikis was recognized as Canada's Outstanding IP Practitioner of the Year.  

In addition, the firm also received recognition for two "Milestone Cases of the Year" for AstraZeneca Canada v Apotex (NEXIUM) and Dow Chemical Company v Nova Chemical.

These awards were presented at MIP's North America Awards ceremony, held on March 15th, 2018 at Essex House in New York City. The awards recognize excellence in the global IP industry and was attended by IP practitioners from across Canada and the United States.
