Jean-Sébastien Dupont is an accomplished IP litigator based in our Montréal office. Clients rely on him to present potential options and to provide decisive guidance on the best course of action. He is committed to providing legal solutions and achieving results for his clients to meet their short- and long-term business goals. His practice is focused on all areas of IP litigation including trademarks, patents and copyright, and he has represented clients before the Quebec Superior Court, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal. His most notable casework and client activities involve Canadian and international companies both large and small, and across industries, including media (Québecor, Rogers Media, Bell Media), advanced materials (Tekna), tobacco (Imperial Tobacco Canada), hockey equipment and apparel (Bauer Hockey), transport (Canadian National Railway, Air Canada) and construction (Lainco). Jean-Sébastien was recently appointed to the role of Practice Group Leader for IP Litigation at Smart & Biggar.
Graham Hood is a seasoned IP litigator based in our Toronto office. His expert counsel is sought after by brand owners focused on building and protecting their brands and reputations across Canada. Graham's litigation practice covers both the Federal and the provincial courts and extends to actions and summary applications for passing off, trademark and trade dress infringement, depreciation of goodwill and the importation, distribution, marketing and sale of counterfeit goods. He has established himself as a bright litigator with a proven track record of success. Graham is a highly experienced lawyer who provides pragmatic advice to help clients achieve their goals. His most notable work includes successfully representing clients in trademark infringement matters across multiple industries, including direct selling and consumer packaged goods (Pampered Chef), food and beverage (Grupo Bimbo and Lindt), consumer electronics (Nintendo), and restaurant services (Osmow’s Grill). Graham was recently appointed Smart & Biggar’s Trademarks Practice Group Leader.
