Daphne Lainson honoured with the President's Outstanding Service Award from the AIPLA

On Friday, October 25, 2019, partner, Daphne Lainson received one of the American Intellectual Property Association’s (AIPLA) most prestigious awards, as part of the AIPLA 2019 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

We are proud to share that Daphne was presented the ‘President's Outstanding Service Award’ by AIPLA president, Sheldon Klein. The Outstanding Service Award is one of the highest awards bestowed on professionals in the IP ‎industry and is given in recognition of extraordinary and selfless personal efforts to both mentor and enhance the ‎mission of AIPLA.  

Daphne demonstrates active involvement in advancing knowledge within the industry through the AIPLA. She is an AIPLA Fellow and Chair of the Food and Drug Law Committee. Previously she has held the position of Chair of the AIPLA IP Practice in Japan Committee, the AIPLA Mentoring Committee and AIPLA’s Women in Intellectual Property Law Committee.

Within Smart & Biggar Daphne plays a key role as a practice leader of the firm’s life sciences practice and in client relations management, particularly in key industrial markets, such as the U.S., Japan and Germany.

Her contribution to the IP community has also been recently recognized in the inaugural edition of the WIPR Influential Women in IP, where she was listed as one of 80 international female leaders in intellectual property law.
