Rutherford is an articling student in our Montréal office. He earned his Bachelor of Laws and Juris Doctor from Université de Montréal.

With a strong academic foundation in both science and law, Rutherford is drawn to the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where he can continually apply and deepen his interdisciplinary expertise. He is passionate about helping creators protect their innovations and intellectual property assets.

During his graduate studies, Rutherford won first place in a national competition for allergy research and received top honours at PharmaHacks (Mila, 2019) for using AI to address challenges in the pharmaceutical industry. Rutherford also worked as a clinical project coordinator at Innovaderm, contributing to dermatology-focused clinical research.

While at law school, Rutherford earned first place in the Innovinc RBC – Université de Montréal (2021) competition for start-up development, and second place in the Bourse Pierre-Péladeau (AsterX & Quebecor), receiving $50,000 for a student-led venture with strong commercial and social impact potential.

Rutherford joined the firm as a summer student in 2024  and is excited to continue working alongside leading intellectual property professionals.
