Protecting and strengthening innovations through strategic patent drafting and prosecution
Ellen prepares and prosecutes patent applications across a diverse range of technologies, with an emphasis on mechanical inventions. Her practice includes patent drafting and prosecution, prior art searches, freedom-to-operate analyses, and IP portfolio strategy.
Ellen works with clients of all sizes across a range of mechanical industries, with a focus on consumer products. She has significant experience with both Canadian and US patent applications, helping innovators secure protection on both sides of the border.
Ellen obtained her Juris Doctor from Western University with a concentration in Intellectual Property, Information and Technology Law. She represented Western Law at the Harold G. Fox IP Moot competition and was a Senior Clinic Fellow at the Western IP & Innovation Legal Clinic. She also holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo.
