Canada’s Intellectual Property Firm

Yoon Kang once again featured in the 'Top 250 Women in IP' by MIP IP Stars

Smart & Biggar is pleased to announce that partner Yoon Kang is listed for the second consecutive year in the Top 250 Women in IP by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP), as part of IP Stars 2021.

Highlighting this outstanding achievement is the fact that Yoon is one of only three women in Canada to be featured among the 250 leading women in IP from around the world.

A partner at Smart & Biggar, Yoon is responsible for leading the life sciences practice in the firm’s Toronto office. For over 20 years, Yoon has focused her practice on patent litigation and prosecution.

Yoon plays a leading role in Smart & Biggar’s life sciences litigation practice, counseling global pharmaceutical innovators and research institutions on all aspects of patent rights. She has significant experience as lead counsel, representing pharmaceutical clients before the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal in complex patent litigation, including under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations.

In MIP’s recent IP Stars editorial, she was lauded as a “prominent practitioner in pharmaceutical litigation“ and as “highly esteemed and among the best in the business when it comes to bringing PM(NOC) disputes to a swift and successful close” by IAM Patents 1000 (2021). Yoon has previously been named as the ‘Best Lawyer in Life Sciences’ in North America by Euromoney Legal Media Group at the Americas Women in Business Law Awards. She is recognized as a top legal practitioner in the area of patents by Expert Guides: Women in Business Law and is regularly listed in LMG Life Sciences, The Best Lawyers in Canada, Benchmark CanadaThe Canadian Legal LEXPERT® Directory and Who's Who Legal: Patents and Life Sciences.

The Top 250 Women in IP recognises female practitioners in private practice who have performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past year.
