Advancing IP interests through strategic advocacy and scientific insight
Rebecca is an associate in Smart & Biggar’s Toronto office. With a background in biomedical sciences and extensive mooting experience, she brings scientific insight, strong advocacy skills and a thoughtful approach to intellectual property litigation.
Rebecca earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, where she further developed her interest in IP litigation through advocacy competitions. She was a finalist and runner-up at the 2024 Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot and won the 2025 Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot. She also served as an associate editor of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review during her first year of law school.
Prior to law school, Rebecca graduated with distinction from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences and a certificate in Immunology, Microbiology and Virology. Her scientific training enables her to engage with technically complex subject matter and understand the innovations at the centre of intellectual property disputes.
In recognition of her combined academic and athletic achievements, she received the U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian Award and the Marauder Scholar Award from 2017 to 2021 during her undegraduate studies.
