Rebecca Tyli is an articling student in our Toronto office. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto.

During her legal studies, Rebecca participated in various moot competitions, including the Harold G. Fox IP Moot and the Oxford International IP Moot. She was a finalist and runner-up at the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot in 2024 and winner of the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot in 2025. Rebecca was also an associate editor of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review in her first year.

Prior to law school, Rebecca graduated with distinction from McMaster University in the health sciences program, earning a B.H.Sc. (Honours) and certificate in Immunology, Microbiology & Virology. During her undergraduate studies, Rebecca was a competitive swimmer and was part of the swim team at McMaster. As a varsity athlete, she was the recipient of the USPORTS Academic All-Canadian award and the Marauder Scholar award (2017- 2021).

Rebecca was previously a summer student at Smart & Biggar and is thrilled to return as an articling student to continue building her legal skills alongside leading IP professionals in the field.
