Advancing intellectual property protection for life sciences innovation
Michael is an associate in our Toronto office. Michael earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario. He demonstrated academic excellence throughout both his legal and biochemistry studies, receiving several awards and distinctions.
During law school, Michael received the Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt Award in Legal Research, Writing and Advocacy. The award is presented annually to the first-year student in the Faculty of Law who achieves the highest average in the Legal Research, Writing and Advocacy course.
Michael also received the Darwin Hayward Award in Law for excellence in Corporate Law and placed first in the Legate Injury Lawyers Medical Malpractice Moot. During his MSc studies, he received a Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
Michael's interest in intellectual property law is driven by the challenges involved in protecting innovation, particularly in the life sciences, where research and commercialization are becoming increasingly intertwined.
