Coralee Ridder

Coralee is an associate in Smart & Biggar’s Toronto office. With six years of industry experience as a chemist, she brings scientific insights, intellectual curiosity, and a practical understanding of the research and development process to her intellectual property practice. 

Coralee approaches each matter with careful attention to its scientific and legal context. She is committed to delivering consistent, accurate and timely work and to communicating openly and directly with clients throughout the process. 

Prior to her career in law, Coralee executed routine and complex chemical syntheses, researched and developed surfactants and prepared technical reports and standard operating procedures. This experience allows her to appreciate the detailed work behind scientific innovation and engage thoughtfully with new and unfamiliar subject matter. 

Coralee earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, where she pursued intellectual property law as a natural extension of her background in chemistry and scientific research.
