Smart & Biggar team to present at the 2025 IPIC-McGill Intellectual Property Summer Program
Smart & Biggar is pleased to participate in the 2025 Intellectual Property Summer Program, hosted by McGill University and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) from July 7-24, 2025.
Christie Bates, Noel Courage, Meghan Dillon, Christine Genge, François Larose, Kwan T. Loh and Martin Tremblay will lead presentations and workshops on patents, trademarks and copyright, sharing their practical insights and legal expertise. We are especially proud to highlight two members in leadership roles this year: Noel Courage serving as Program Chair, and Christie Bates as Assistant Course Director for the Copyright Master Class.
Understanding Trademarks (July 7-11, 2025)
- July 7: Kwan T. Loh will speak in a session titled “Trademark Applications: Filing Requirements and Special Types of Applications”, followed by the “Trademark Filing Strategies and Classification” workshop.
- July 8: Meghan Dillon will present “Clearance Searches, Examiners’ Reports & Responses, Post-Advertisement Matters”, followed by the “Clearance Searches” workshop.
- July 10: François Larose will participate in the “Reporting Office Actions” workshop.
Understanding Patents (July 14-18, 2025)
- July 15: Christine Genge will present “Designs: An Overview”. Noel Courage will also contribute to the “Patents and AI” breakout session.
- July 17: Martin Tremblay will join a panel discussion and workshop on “Funding & Valuation”.
Copyright Master Class (July 21-24, 2025)
- July 21: Christie Bates will present in a session titled “Introduction to Key Aspects of Copyright”.
