We explore Canada-specific issues that brand owners should keep in mind when looking to protect their trademarks in Canada. For example, use is not required to obtain a Canadian registration and CIPO examiners can reject an application on the basis that the mark lacks distinctiveness. Brand owners should also be aware of Prohibited Marks in Canada.
Kwan T. Loh and associate Tierney GB Deluzio presented this webinar on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
