Patent lawyer supporting chemical innovation through a global lens
Walter’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, opinions and counseling in chemical, pharmaceutical and clean technology. His experience includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, performing patentability and invalidity analyses, and assisting with patent litigation and regulatory compliance matters.
Prior to joining Smart & Biggar, Walter completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Toronto. He also obtained a Certificate in Transnational Law from the University of Geneva.
Walter’s doctoral research at Stanford University focused on the development of new metal-catalyzed methods for the asymmetric synthesis of small molecules, including biologically active natural products.
