Charlotte is a diligent patent lawyer with a practice focused on patent procurement and assists clients to secure and maximize IP protection. 

Charlotte has experience working with companies of various sizes in the life sciences sector, technology companies and government organizations. As a former researcher, she leverages her expertise and pharmaceutical industry experience to assist clients and protect their valuable inventions.

Before joining Smart & Biggar, Charlotte practiced IP litigation at a large international law firm. She has appeared before the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal, representing clients in patent infringement, validity and remedies litigation. 

Prior to entering law school, Charlotte worked in R&D at a New York based pharmaceutical company to develop novel technologies and antibody therapeutics. During her time in academia, Charlotte published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences on the topics of diabetes and inflammatory bowel disease. She obtained her M.Sc. in Physiology from the University of Toronto.
