Since debuting as a slogan in Canadian politics, several businesses have filed trademark applications for “Elbows Up”, to try to obtain exclusive rights to the phrase. In a recent interview, Reagan Seidler discusses the fate of these filings with CBC News:
“The position of the Trademarks Office appears to be that “Elbows Up” is used by too many different businesses to be a functional brand name.”
