Guillaume Lavoie Ste-Marie and Lynn Ing named ‘Rising Stars’ by MIP IP Stars

Lynn Ing's practice is dedicated to patent matters, including litigation and prosecution. Lynn was an integral member of the team that successfully appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada in AstraZeneca v Apotex, 2017 SCC 36, which abolished the “promise doctrine” of patent utility in Canada. The depth of Lynn’s experience in patent matters aligns with her strong technical expertise. Her graduate work was in the field of cell signalling and published in Oncogene and EMBO J. Prior to joining Smart & Biggar, Lynn worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the area of tumour angiogenesis and innovative cancer therapies.
Guillaume Lavoie Ste-Marie is a copyright, patent and trademark litigator who is trusted by his clients to put in place practical and result-driven litigation strategies in complex IP matters. Guillaume represents local, national and international clients in a diverse array of industries, including motion picture and other media, broadcasting, retail goods, personal care products, sports equipment, food and beverage and industrial products. Guillaume is frequently involved in the protection and enforcement of protected geographical indications (Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée) in Canada.
