Abigail Smith joins the Canadian Bar Association’s National IP Section Executive

Smart & Biggar is pleased to announce that Toronto senior associate, Abigail Smith, has been elected to the Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) National Intellectual Property (IP) Section Executive as a Member-At-Large.

The Intellectual Property Section serves as the CBA’s national voice on intellectual property law and legal practice. It contributes to national policy, promotes professionalism in the field of IP law and responds to legislative initiatives.

The IP Section is involved with the Federal Court IP Users’ Committee, which provides input into initiatives to improve IP practice before the Federal Court. The Section also participates in IP roundtables with the Minister and government and liaises regularly with the American Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section, Industry Canada, Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.

Abigail was also recently elected to the Ontario Bar Association Information Technology and IP section. She specializes in the field of life sciences (pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices, natural health products), with a focus on pharmaceutical litigation and regulation.
