Canada’s Intellectual Property Firm

We have implemented remote work across offices

Smart & Biggar is committed to ensuring the safety and health of our people, while maintaining service levels for our clients.

Following best practices recommended by Canadian public health authorities, we have implemented remote work operations across our offices to ensure social distancing and minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in our local communities.

We are open for business on a remote work basis

Effective immediately, all Smart & Biggar lawyers, agents, and business support team members will be working remotely from home, and our physical offices will be open on a limited basis only until further notice.

We remain committed to maintaining our high standard of client service

To ensure there are no service disruptions, we have implemented a combination of operational policies and protocols, business systems and remote work tools across our business operations. We continue to be available to clients and business partners through secure channels including email, telephone and videoconference.

By implementing these measures, we are prepared and equipped to operate at full capacity to meet the needs of our clients.

Providing timely updates on developments in Canadian IP law and practice

We also continue to monitor and provide updates on developments in Canadian IP law and practice.

Recently, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) announced extensions to patent, trademark, and industrial design deadlines, which you can read about in our  IP Update. Smart & Biggar will continue to meet all original deadlines upon receipt of timely instructions from our clients.
