Smart & Biggar partners recognized among the world’s leading lawyers by the Who’s Who Legal 2019 guides

Smart & Biggar is pleased to announce that 15 partners across Life Sciences Patent Litigation, Life Sciences Regulatory, Patents and Data have been named in Who’s Who Legal 2019 guides. Survey respondents describe Smart & Biggar as an “impressive Canadian firm”. In the life sciences space, we are regarded as “[the] leading firm in the Canadian market”.

Partners Gunars Gaikis and John Knox have been identified in the guide as “Thought Leaders” in the Americas. Gunars, who is recognized in two practice areas, Patents and Life Sciences: Patent Litigation. Researchers comment on Gunars, who “maintains a stellar reputation in the market with sources keen to highlight some recent big victories, including in the Supreme Court of Canada.” John Knox is described as one whose “world-class practice encompasses a wide array of related matters from design protection to prosecutions.”

John Knox is “a leading figure in the Canadian patents market.” While Christopher Robinson, who retired at the end of 2018, had “over 30 years’ experience advising clients on patent-related issues, and is well acquainted with handling matters pertaining to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.” David Schwartz gains recognition for his “first-rate patents practice that spans the gamut of related issues including appeals proceedings and regulation.”

Recognized for Data and Life Sciences Regulatory, Alice Tseng is admired as “a very dedicated regulatory practitioner” and is highly recommended by sources for “her wide-ranging experience in sectors including healthcare and pharmaceuticals.”
