Smart & Biggar short-listed by LMG for 10 ‘Women in Business Law’ awards celebrating law firm diversity and inclusion practices

Smart & Biggar is pleased to share that we have been short-listed, on both a firm and individual level, in 10 categories offered at the 2020 Women in Business Law Americas Awards.

These annual awards, hosted by LMG Euromoney, recognize North and South America’s leading women in business law and law firms that have developed the most progressive initiatives towards diversity and inclusion. Winners will be announced online in a virtual ceremony on September 17, 2020.

Individual nominees include Toronto partner Alice Tseng, shortlisted for Life Sciences, and Ottawa partner and firm chair Daphne Lainson short-listed for both Life Sciences and Patents. All short-listed nominees are selected based on peer review from leading female practitioners, as well as research from LMG's survey results and directory analysis.

Smart & Biggar was also nominated for an impressive seven North American firm categories, including “Best Firm” for: Gender Diversity; Diversity (overall); Mentoring Programme; Work-Life Balance; Talent Management; Women in Business Law; and Leading Canadian Firm. All short-listed law firms are selected based on their strong and innovative practices and programmes that highlight women and diversity.

Last year Smart & Biggar was awarded ‘Best National Firm for Diversity (North America)' in recognition of our commitment to advocacy for all team members, enabling personal and professional growth – both inside and outside the organization – and our support of work-life balance.

The Women in Business Law Awards are an opportunity for leading female lawyers to recognize individuals, teams and firms who are leading the way in their field and setting a new standard in progressive work practices.
